2025: Maximizing Your Healthcare Benefits

Ensuring Member Satisfaction
Sep 20, 2024

Imagine knowing the cost of your care before booking an appointment — 80% of patients want to see prices upfront, just like with any other service.

As the end of the benefit year approaches, employers and benefits leaders have a unique opportunity to ensure members get the most out of their current offerings. Now’s the time to encourage your team to take action on key screenings, tests, and vaccinations, helping them stay healthy and save costs in the upcoming year.

Key Actions to Take:

  • Schedule Annual Screenings: Don’t wait until next year! Ensure members are up to date on essential screenings. Citrus recently partnered with a direct-to-employer provider in Minnesota to guide eligible-age males to colorectal cancer (CRC) screenings, catching early malignancies in 2% of cases. Through our recommended providers, our partner saved $40 per visit, resulting in $5,540 in savings for every 1,000 members*.

  • Complete Pending Tests: Encourage members to address any overdue procedures or tests, such as mammograms. We’ve seen outpatient services become more affordable, with prices aligning in over 80% of markets. Radiology services, in particular, are now easier to compare, with more predictable pricing and less variation across providers. This shift is driving price competition. For instance, in October 2024, a new member found that Citrus-recommended radiologists were three times more affordable than other options, highlighting the savings potential from careful provider selection.

  • Leverage Healthcare Navigation: We analyze a member’s search to quickly match them with nearby, in-network doctors. Our models evaluate cost and quality data to recommend the best care options based on their specific needs. This is a win-win for both employer benefits programs and members, saving time, reducing hassle, and lowering costs by steering individuals away from expensive providers, unnecessary treatments, and out-of-network charges. *14% of the population are men aged 50-74 and 35% of men aged 50-74 receive CRC screenings.
